Two years old!!

I know I haven't posted in awhile about what we've been up to, and unfortunately, I don't have a lot of time right now, but I just wanted to post a little something about my baby girl. She had a birthday not too long ago and is two years old now!!! (I'll post the full account of her birthday later when I have more time.)

How did my little girl go from this:

In SUCH a short time. You've grown up SO fast baby girl. I love you so much and have enjoyed every second! Happy Birthday!

To those who knew

I don't know how many of you have been reading our blog long enough to remember this post, which was later followed by this post. Either way, we have some news regarding all of that.

We decided to do it all over again!!!

Sterling got ready for OCS again in October, thankfully his physical and all his paperwork were still good from last time, so there was no need to redo all of that. He took his physical fitness test again and aced it! He ended up with a 290 out of 300. Pretty impressive, no?

The one big change was that there are no pilot spots open for October, they have too many pilots as it is. Instead, he was going to go for a Navigational Flight Office (NFO) position. When he took his physical, we were told that there were 10 spots for NFOs and only 9 people competing for them. So it was looking like we were nearly completely guaranteed to get in and we're feeling pretty good about the decision and our chances.

But God had different plans for us. I once heard someone say that if you wanted to hear God laugh, tell him your plans. We did.

We waited to get the official word that the selection board had picked Sterling as an officer candidate, but when the call came, it was that he WASN'T selected. We were crushed and confused and depressed and just flat out mad because nobody could tell us why. Come to find out that they did pick two men as NFOs and five women, and the other three spots were filled with extras from the summers class. Still doesn't make complete sense to me, but I can deal with it at least.

So, now we're trying to figure out what to do. We could go back to the Marines and try again in January, but what to do til then? Sterling only has a seasonal summer job right now. Also, I'm getting sick of the military; the only thing reliable about them is that you can always count on things to never go as they say they will. What a relief. Sterling could go back to school, but we already dropped that option once because we'd have to go into too much debt for it. He could get a job as boarder patrol down in AZ or somewhere, but he doesn't like the heat. So many choices and no clear path.

So there's the update for us. Sorry no pics with this one. Lots has been happening since my family is in town. I just need to get on and blog about it. Soon. Very soon.
